Man United #10 • 253 United Goals • England Record Scorer • Complete Jersey Guide
The Record That May Never Fall
Wayne Rooney did not ease into greatness - he announced it with a last-minute Champions League bicycle-volley for Everton at 16, then a thunderbolt against Arsenal on his Manchester United debut. By the time he left Old Trafford he had scored 253 goals, the club's all-time record, a mark that looks increasingly untouchable in the modern game.
His number was the 10 - the shirt of the finisher, the creator, the angry genius. Five Premier League titles, a Champions League in 2008 and the 2010 League Cup final wondergoal against Manchester City all happened in that red 10.
The Everton Boy and the Return
Before United there was Everton, the club he supported as a boy, where he wore 9 and became the Toffees' youngest ever scorer. In 2017 he came home, captaining Everton for one emotive season in the number 10 before heading to DC United and then Derby County.
That Derby move became a second act: player, then manager. Rooney took charge at Derby County and, by 2026, remained one of the most recognisable faces in English football - the number 32 shirt from his Derby playing days now a cult collector's item.
England's Sharpest Edge
For England, Rooney is simply the record scorer - 53 goals from 120 caps - a total that stood alone until Harry Kane overtook it. His number 10 for the Three Lions is stitched into three tournaments of near-misses and one undeniable consistency of finishing.
The shirt to own is the United home in Rooney 10 from any of the title years; the 2009-10 home (his annus mirabilis) and the 2010-11 title shirt are the grails. Everton 9 and DC United 9 complete the set for the completist.
