Two goals against Paris - a header from Iliman Ndiaye's cross and a composed finish from Ayyoub Bouaddi's pass - took Erling Haaland's Champions League totals past a round milestone: 61 goals in 60 appearances. He got there in 60 games, beating Lionel Messi's previous mark of 80, and at 26 years and 85 days he is the youngest player to reach 60 in this competition. A brace was not enough on its own, though: Manchester City lost 4-2 at the Etihad.

His two goals in Manchester took his Manchester City Champions League tally to 38 goals in 41 games, moving him clear of Sergio Aguero as the club's outright all-time top scorer in this competition - in 23 fewer appearances than Aguero needed for his 36. He was man of the match, and the strikes also lifted him past Thomas Muller (57) into seventh on the all-time Champions League scoring list.

Haaland reached 50 Champions League goals in 44 appearances, beating Ruud van Nistelrooy's mark of 45 - and he was the youngest player to several of the competition's scoring milestones on the way. Among players with 50 or more goals, his strike rate of 1.02 per game stands alone; Cristiano Ronaldo's career rate, for comparison, is roughly 0.77. City's Champions League group is now one win and one defeat, the PSG reverse ending an eight-match winning streak in the competition, and the Premier League Golden Boot he won in 2024-25 looks like an annual appointment rather than an achievement.
